Crowns

For patients that are missing teeth, have had a prior root canal, or those who simply want to correct a chipped or cracked tooth’s appearance, a dental crown may be an ideal solution for you.

Your Perfect Smile

Dental crowns are crafted to match your smile perfectly in color, tooth shape, and bite. They’ll also look, feel and function exactly like your real teeth. In fact, your own friends and family members likely won’t be able to tell you have a crown-they’ll simply comment on how beautiful your smile is.

What Are Crowns?

Generally, we use a porcelain material to make the crown because it blends best with your other teeth. It typically takes two appointments to fit a crown.

At the first appointment, we prepare the tooth so the crown is able to snuggly fit over it. Next, we mold an impression of the tooth so that the crown fits between the teeth on either side of it and is the same size and shape as the one being capped. At the end of this visit, we attach a temporary crown to protect the tooth until the long-term crown is ready.

At the second visit, we cement the long-term crown and make sure that it feels comfortable and natural and that your bite is correct. That’s it!

e.max vs. BruxZir Zirconia: What’s the Difference?

Oral Prosthetics Lab works with advanced materials like e.max and BruxZir Zirconia, allowing us to tailor your restoration to your needs.

  • e.max: Made of lithium disilicate, e.max restorations are prized for their exceptional aesthetics and translucency, making them ideal for front teeth where appearance is paramount. This material mimics the natural enamel of teeth, creating stunningly lifelike results while offering excellent strength and durability. e.Max crowns bond and adhere to your tooth very strongly, and with proper care and maintenance, can stay on tight for decades to come.
  • BruxZir Zirconia: Renowned for its incredible toughness, BruxZir zirconia is often the material of choice for back teeth or areas of the mouth where biting forces are highest. While slightly less translucent than e.max, modern esthetic BruxZir zirconia has improved in aesthetics while remaining virtually unbreakable, ensuring long-lasting performance, especially for patients who grind their teeth.
